Toys to Life 2015
The “toys to life” genre in video games is a popular theme for top Christmas toys 2015. These are a range of smart toys that unlock content in the game by placing them on a special USB peripheral plugged into your game console. Woolly Yoshi Amiibo turns “Toys To Life” figures into actual toys. Nintendo’s little green dinosaur will be released in the Fall 2015 and is predicted to be a must-have holiday toy for 2015!
The smart tech is hidden inside the wool toy by Nintendo. Unlike other amiibo that are hard plastic and sit on a static base, Yoshi is made of wool and has no plastic base. This Nintendo figurine is as much a play toy as it is a way to unlock in game content. With the tech hidden inside this woolly knitted amiibo is much more a cuddly friend than gaming token.
Toys to Life started with Activision’s ambitious and risky bet on Skylanders with its plastic figures on circular stands. Now established, the future of the category lies in moving the tech inside to let the toys be toys. Lego Dimensions’ solution is to split the toys from the tech by enabling players to remove the minifigures from the small plastic bases.
The new toys to life video-game trend of offers playable toys rather than collectable figurines for the shelf. The yarn Yoshi amiibo is made of wool and comes in the colors pink, green and blue. Pre-order to ensure you get one of these cute Yoshis in time for the holidays.
